Registration for the Golden 8 Ball 2018 Festival of Pool is now open!
At 12pm on Sunday 1st of October, 2017, we opened team registrations for the 2018 Golden 8 Ball Festival of Pool. Register early to avoid disappointment!
There have been a few changes to the Festival of Pool 2018, so please check our site for updated information. The main changes are:
- Pro-Am Series Weekend, has some minor changes to the tournament format. We have decided to keep the Men’s Singles, Ladies Singles and Mixed Doubles as they are, but move the Junior event to the Amateur Series weekend. More details here…
- Amateur Series Weekend, has some fairly major changes it to it. We are replacing the Men’s Singles, Ladies Singles and Mixed Doubles trophies with an Open Singles and Open Doubles trophy. The team entry criteria has been tightened, with now only ONE male County A player allowed per team. This includes past County A players – if you’ve ever played at County A standard, then you are considered a County A player. Any international players, past or present are not allowed to enter. We are wanting grass root amateurs and novice players only. If you’ve played for your country, then we don’t deem you as novice standard. More details here…
- The Junior Singles event has not been getting the attention and promotion it deserves from us. To help fix this, we have moved it to the Amateur weekend and are making it easier for juniors to come and visit for the day and participate. We have created a page for the event and registration form will be coming soon. We intend to give it a good push in 2018 and get more juniors participating. More details here…
- NEW Special Needs event – we are creating a new special needs event that will be run the same weekend as the Amateur Series. The players and organisers raises £1,250 at this years 2017 festival, for the England Special Needs team. Representative’s of the England team Stephen Griggs and Scott Lloyd came to see the tournament in action and discuss special needs pool. We discovered that there is very little competitive pool available for those with special needs and thought it wholly appropriate to start an event for them, opening the doors of the Golden 8 Ball to all players, regardless of their ability or skill level. We’re inviting any player with a disability to enter, and more importantly, they can enter individually and don’t need to come as part of a team. More details here…
