Welcome to the ‘Pro-Am Series’ tournament

15th to 19th June 2022

Before Covid-19 struck, we planned to celebrate our 10-year anniversary in 2020. But with all the madness and uncertainty that ensued, the 2020 festival was cancelled, and the 2021 festival moved to August, although it still seemed very unlikely that it would go ahead. Luckily, restrictions were relaxed just in time and the festival happened over two weekends, turning out to be a great success with a buzzing atmosphere and very few reported Covid infections. It was great to see so many happy players back in the arena again, playing pool, drinking beer and singing Sweet Caroline!

With all this in mind, we decided it would be best to postpone any anniversary celebrations until we know for certain the event will go ahead. So fingers crossed 2022 will be the year we get to celebrate our belated anniversary and with good reason – this party is long overdue!  We can’t believe how quickly time has passed and how the event has grown from its humble beginnings of just 28 teams to the now incredibly popular ‘Festival of Pool’ with 274 teams and over 1,000 players.

Following the popularity of opening a day earlier, we are continuing to give players the option to book 4 nights and arrive on Wednesday 15th June – this extra night’s stay will cost just £40 for half board, or £35 for B&B, per person. Arena will be opening from 11am on the Wednesday, for practice and flyers.

To support the growth of Ladies pool, we will continue to allow ‘lady spectators’ to enter the Ladies or Mixed Doubles events, with a spectator’s wristband. These are only £20. Entry fees for the events will still apply. This will allow ladies who don’t want to participate in the team event to come and join the Ladies side events at a more affordable rate. Ladies who attend the Novice series can also enter the Ladies Singles and Mixed Doubles at the Pro-Am weekend, using their Novice series player wristband. Offer is only applicable to the Ladies side events and does not include the team event.  

All money raised from spectator wristbands is donated to our nominated small charity or good cause. Details of this will be published in the event programme.

In 2019, we raised a record breaking £2,354 and completed our mission to buy a custom made ‘8 Ball Whizzybug’ for a disabled child under 5 years old. In 2021 we had reduced fund raising activities, but still raised £395 for RNLI and £500 for a homeless charity in Blackpool. In 2022 we will continue to raise money for smaller good causes and welcome nominations.
